Poor health is both the cause and effect of poverty. gorta addresses health issues by focusing on improving food and water security and also working with partners in the provision of community care. HIV/AIDS is prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa and gorta has joined with a number of organisations to provide care for those living with HIV/AIDS and their families. The promotion of health is a basic right of all individuals and is a necessity in order to achieve an adequate living standard.
