Livelihoods focus on the improvement of living conditions through income-generating activities and skills training. gorta focuses on maintaining income security and enterprise promotion for those who are vulnerable. The main objective is to reduce people’s vulnerability to food shortages, poor health and poverty. Skill training for income generating activities has a particular focus on women’s groups and provides access to the necessary credit. Wherever possible, gorta aims to work with small-scale farmers to promote farming as a business, including better produce storage, processing and marketing.
