National Soup Week Kicks Off Today and gorta urges everyone to get involved!
Today (Friday, the 8th April) marks the beginning of National Soup Week, which will raise funds to help gorta find practical solutions to the global problem of food insecurity. During the week gorta is encouraging people to raise funds for families in East Africa by arranging a "Soup for Life" event, enjoying a cup, bowl or pot of delicious soup and contributing to gorta. Cully & Sully, the foodies responsible for making some of the most delicious soups in the country are teaming up with gorta over National Soup Week, April 8th – 15th. For every carton of soup sold during the week they will donate 5c to gorta's work overseas. Read more »

World Water Day 2011: Billions Lack Clean Water and Sanitation
gorta has marked UN World Water Day by drawing attention to the staggering fact that 2.5 billion people worldwide lack access to basic sanitation and one in eight people lack access to safe water supplies. The UN estimates that by 2025, 48 nations, with a combined population of 2.8 billion, will face freshwater 'stress' or 'scarcity'. Read more »

By dining out in your favourite restaurant, pub or café, you still help this extremely worthy cause.
