Should Ireland keep its Aid Promise?

Keep Ireland's Aid Promise

In 2000, Ireland renewed a commitment to devote 0.7% of its Gross National Income (GNI) to Official overseas Development Assistance (ODA).

However, since the start of 2009,the Irish Government has cut the overseas aid budget by €195 million. This year, the proportion of GNI spent on overseas aid will amount to just 0.48%.

Gorta staff hit the streets of Dublin and Durban recently to gauge public opinion on Ireland's ODA record and to ask if Ireland should keep its Aid Promise.
